He happily and eagerly starts eating what’s left even though Ryo should eat more. He is careful not to throw Ryo off his shoulder.]

ryo just wordlessly picks up a napkin and uses it to wipe at akira's mouth. he really did just drop his training so fast. ryo has no real opinion on this as she doesn't know how much akira did or did not enjoy that training, so she only has her own bias to work with here. ]

[ in general they did work well together, although it's easy to forget considering they spent so much time arguing and not being on the same side before they went their separate ways. ]

Well.... [ she had said it, but now she isn't sure how to explain. ] I've been keeping to myself a lot recently, and having you here has changed that.

[ "recently" has been decades technically but

when she was in teyvat, ryo had spent a lot of time with people like lavi and childe and explored the world a lot, so it was at least easy to not spend every day holed up in punishing seclusion. but she did a total 180 there after going to earth and returning to hell. yes, she leaves the house and still does thing, but it's typically completely on her own aside from occasional visits to satan (fake version).

so. it's nice to have akira as motivation to do things. ]

It’s so funny how he brightens slightly as he looks at Ryo when he understands a bit of what Ryo is trying to say without saying it.

Maybe it would have hurt him before (it did) to know he gave Ryo’s life meaning, but Ryo couldn’t find it in anything else. Extremely fucking unhealthy, and yet, there isn’t anything else in the way of this anymore.

Akira accepts unhealthy codependence when there are no other options.]

[His expression softens. Right. He forgets how old Ryo truly is, how much Ryo has done. And though he knows Ryo is smart, he also forgets how intelligent Ryo is sometimes. How powerful.]

I realized that wasn’t true. I understood that you could feel all of those things. You just didn’t know what they were.

It probably would have been better if it were true.

[ it's a quiet admittance. a lot of things would have been easier to deal with if she didn't actually have emotions. but unfortunately being immortal or inhuman doesn't actually erase things like that, something that others like chandra or scaramouche have also proven. it just makes the feelings more complicated and muddled and harder to accept. ]
