which was his mistake, he supposes. he just assumed that as long as they reached some sort of agreement before the party, that everything would be fine in the end. he wishes he had more time then, and then after he had nothing but time.

There's no fight or argument when Ryo changes topics. He goes back to messing with the soup--preparing the chicken. He does have to let it cool a little first.]

I can stay with him if you wanted to travel again.

It was difficult at first. [ he'll admit that much. he had never been that fond of jd, and afterwards it was kind of a blatant reminder of what had happened. ] But then I figured that even if you didn't come back for me, you might eventually want to check on him.

[ and now he is weirdly attached to this cat in the way you might trauma bond to something. jd is his dumb cat now, even though he won't ever admit to this out loud.

he adjusts his hold on jd. he's like ten seconds away from pulling him away because he does NOT want this cat getting overweight. this cat has a meal schedule. ]

puts it in his own mouth while looking a bit sheepish about the couch even if it doesn't matter.]

[ he sets jd down onto the floor before he wanders off... from the sound of feet on steps, he is headed upstairs.

he comes back down a few minutes later with something in his hand. ryo walks right up to akira so that he is just inches from his face, and then he reaches over to gently place something onto his ear. it's a familiar earring. ]

You came back, so it's yours again.

[He truly has to pause and exchange a glance with JD because he thinks he did something that made Ryo mad? A little hitched noise is.made im his throat...

He hurries to wash his hands. He might have to race upstairs for Ryo. JD is differently grooming the face, so he isn't any help.

By the time he turns around, he startles at Ryo's sudden return.]

[Oh, Ryo is close? Gonna kiss??? His lips part a bit...

--Oh. He blinks owlishly as Ryo clips the earring on, hand lifting to touch it like he doesn't trust he knows what it is.]

[ help. the whirlwind of confusion akira just went through that ryo is unaware of.

he takes a step back-- not too far, but just enough so that he can observe it better. ]

I took it off so I wouldn't lose it.

[ he says this casually, as if this wasn't an emotional gift that akira bestowed on him while ryo was sobbing like a stupid baby. that was embarrassing he is never going to bring it up ever. ]

[He really went through it, and all of it was embarrassing so he equally won't say anything about it.

A soft smile curls his lips. Nothing matters except the fact Ryo kept it...

He reaches out to hook his fingers around the back of Ryo's neck, and he draws Ryo in so he can hug him tightly to himself.]

[ oh a hug. he is surprised by it, but like always, he immediately hugs back. jd watches them once again not pay any attention to him.

No, it's just soup. It has to boil for a while before the noodles go in.

[Let him hug Ryo without having to stop for burning food.
