[The water pot goes on the stove, and he turns the burners on. We call them eyes in the South, so I just went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out why and if I was spelling it correctly help me.]

They're easy, but they take awhile because you have to fry them on lower heat so they don't get burnt before cooking all the way through.
