the only grim part about this is that it's harder to hide the pain in his sleep. he falls under, but it doesn't look restful in the slightest. that façade lasted two seconds. ]

[ every day he finds new reasons to kill elysium.

he spends the time running a hand through his hair and whispering to him, from words of comfort to random observations he makes. the hope is just that hearing a voice might help ease him a little.

internally, he is just thinking about where is the closest place with a decent oripathy treatment center. ]

[ he is going to kill thorns if he takes him to a treatment centre. he would rather turn himself in back to rhodes.

but he doesn't know what thorns is thinking, so he just continues to go through bouts where it's less painful and ones where it feels like he's on fire.

in the end, he rouses an hour later. ]

It's barely been any time at all.

[ thorns just looks at him, before sighing and moving so that he can get up, but not before pressing a kiss to his temple. ]

[ tries to get up. nearly falls over.

docybara barely catches him in time and makes a sound of protest over being fallen onto. ]

Just rest. We're going to be doing a lot of traveling.

[ there's not much point in elysium tiring himself out for no reason when thorns can easily handle this. ]

[ he will settle pathetically against docybara. docybara senses nothing amiss with the vibes and chirps happily.

this is so not good for the mental, though. he can't keep burdening thorns like this… ]

[ this is just how elysium becomes a tradwife (real).

but they didn't really unpack that much other than the medical equipment, so it's easy to get everything ready. he grabs some healthy snack bars and a treat for docybara so he won't feel slighted. ]

[ he gaze follows docybara circling around them to cue for attention. maybe he does feel something is amiss, given his more restless than usual behaviour… ]

It does seem like he has a lot of energy to burn…

thorns walks over to start giving docybara some pets. they need to keep him appeased to make sure he doesn't throw a tantrum. ]

It might be a good thing.

[ he is so needy… the thing about children taking after their parents is something that surely cannot be true. docybara was not with them from his birth, so they attribute it to his parents who failed him. it's fine. ]

… Alright—! [ he's officially done psyching himself up. ] Let's get a move on shall we? Before the Doctor suddenly decides to change his mind.

[ and they can be off! they will have to move more slowly than usual, and thorns is still being paranoid in case the people who attacked are still trailing them... however, the chances of that being true is fairly low, since the perfect time to have attacked would have been when they were taking turns sleeping.

[ at some point during the trip, elysium comes to a stop. he doesn't just wander off, but he does tug thorns' sleeve and point to a certain direction. ]

Do you mind waiting here? I'm going to be five minutes. [ then, as if it warrants adding: ] I'll be within visual distance.

[ he thought that the lesson that they learned was that they can never ever separate!!!

[ he is immediately soothed, albeit still suspicious. ]

[ elysium makes sure docybara is secured before shuffling them several metres away. docybara isn't pleased with this at first, but this is the power of chew toys… elysium leaves one for it to play around with. ]
