[ thorns' smiles are the cutest in the world. he makes sure it and the ring are front and centre in the picture.

sorry docybara, there is a precarious balance that needs to be maintained in this scrapbook. for every ten of thorns there may be a docybara. he doesn't make the rules. ]

[ if they stay like this any longer they might start making out and that will put them even more behind schedule. ]

[ lowers their hands to give it a swing, while more than just occasionally glancing at their hands… this is so gay. ]

I feel like I've got more energy than ever.

[ they can go back to their son who once again feels incredibly neglected. this is a cycle. ]

[ sorry son... they will get you a playmate whenever they can.

thorns gives the doctor some pats. ]

Don't we have an egg-laying friend to pick up?

[ looks at doctor in consideration. the top of his head is the perfect size for bird to perch on, he thinks. ]

he remains neutral on the outside. ]

[ that pixel smile looks a pixel higher than when he asked thorns for a pixel smile previously.

meanwhile, elysium's smile might as well be measured in megapixels. ]

Have you thought about what you're going to do if they don't get along?

Of course they're going to get along.

[ he has absolutely no basis for this, especially considering the chicken had a history of turning on you as soon as you pissed it off, much like docybara... ]

[ they are eventually going to have to contend with the reality that they're two for two for problem children. or maybe they continue being delusional and are incapable of accepting it flat out. ]

One of them has to take after me for that to happen.

[ he thinks thorns is the start of their problems in both their children. ]

[ maybe if elysium just accepted them immediately instead of trying to 1v1 them that wouldn't be an issue. ]

[ they are taking time and attention away from thorns. it's not his fault.

but he gives docybara a sidelong glance full of skepticism. ]

You're both really needy and attention seeking.

[ so thorns is aware of docybara's problems, he just chooses to look the other way. ]

[ he will ignore the part where thorns said both and squeezes his hand in warning. ]

What am I supposed to fix?

[ he has decided that this is their life? it's why they need the chicken... ]

The Doctor needs to learn to be more independent. He won't always have us taking care of him.

[ he belatedly realises how morbid this sounds. ]

He'll grow up and have to go on his own eventually.

But we're the ones who need to teach him how to do all of that.

[ he is baby... so he must learn from his own role models... ]

Exactly. We can't keep spoiling him.

[ he must learn… mommy and daddy are separate entities from him… ]

[ he glances over to where docybara is still waiting for them to return. he squeaks his toy impatiently. ]

We should get going again.

[ that 'i guess' may as well be speak for you are too annoying to say no to but i need to say something for you to move on.

fine. elysium will physically move on but he will not emotionally move on. he will remember this. ]

[ he's back to being grumpy. ]

[ stop being grumpy, the last time you were, you almost died.

but they can return to their neglected child so they can continue their journey. thorns just glances over at elysium. ]

he does not stay grumpy for long because all it takes to raise his spirits is peeking over to thorns' ring and feeling the warmth in his chest spread. should he look up more flower language to be more on point…? he thinks about it. it doesn't matter if thorns does or doesn't catch on. he just likes doing things for thorns. ]
