Well... Shinonome is a rich kid school, but the focus is more on careers than general rich kid stuff, I guess. So while there's a lot of extremely fancy shit, at the end of the day, the focus is making sure you make a name for yourself.

[ so it's less for just sending your billionaire kid because the other schools are too poor and more that you want your billionaire kid to be the Best. ]

Oh? [Wait, hold on. He actually looks a little surprised by that even as he slips his hands into his pockets and begins to walk ahead. Come on, Taka. If you're not moving then Tamaki will force the issue.] That doesn't sound too different then. One of the first things I ever told Senri about Ouran is that our academy is built on lineage first, wealth a close second. Classes A through D are selected based on grades and pedigree, but the students of Ouran are still expected to be scholars and leaders. We have class events to demonstrate our leadership potential every year and being at the top of your year is just as important as your family name.

Shinonome doesn't sound too different then.

Although I think we both mostly wanted top seat. You only qualify for that by getting into the special class, which we did though.

And the top seat is the ranking that allows you wealth, political standing and access to as many records as possible in all of Japan. [He's very serious about this, a hand coming up to his chin in thought as he makes all sorts of mental notes.] How do you get top seat? By being better than everyone else? That seems difficult if the entire class believes they're the best at what they do and you aren't being presented with the same challenges and opportunities.

Well, there's not that many people in the special class, it's just us in the two dorms. But you basically get points in different criteria-- things like your grades and stuff obviously gives you points, but then you also get them based on activities you do and how well you do them. So if Senri gets a lead in a show and it's a huge success, he'll probably end up getting points for that.

The student body awards us most of the points, actually, so except for when it involves academics, it's more or less a popularity contest. Kind of think of it of how you guys did your thing with how you were trying to get more followers. Whoever had the most followers at the end won, right? It's like that.

[Yeah, that's a concept he's familiar enough with even aside from the competition he participated in as a god. He's quietly thinking that over, trying to piece everything together based on what he knows about Taka and Senri.]

So that means you can earn and lose favor at any given time...do the points only stop once you've reached graduation? Or do they stop before then? I feel like that sort of system has its own flaw if you have a less than agreeable personality...

They choose a new winner at the end of each year, so you have three chances. So in theory, you can win more than once.

And yeah. I think that might be one of the reasons why they pair you off with someone. In theory, whatever you might lack, your partner could potentially make up for.

In theory. [That still sounds flawed, but at the same time...] I suppose that makes sense. The Host Club wouldn't have launched without my own partner, and now it's one of our best investments.

You don't really know much about your partner before you're placed together, do you? What happens if something happens to your partner?

You'd have to be given a new partner, but that might take time since it'd mean accepting someone new into the special class. The student council president didn't have a partner for the start of the year until Yuni transferred in.

[ but it didn't matter to kumarin considering he was fuckin abroad during that time so ]

But if it's just something like you wanting a new partner or wanting to transfer to the other dorm, they don't normally just accept that unless you have a really good reason. Senri really wants to be in white dorm, so before he kept trying to get transferred over there.

[ he stopped actively trying after they returned to the temple even if he still thinks white dorm is better ]

I think I remember that. The two different dorms, and definitely the moments in which he didn't get along with you. [Despite everything that happened, he knows it's better that the two of them ended up the way they did. He could trust them to look after one another, and yet it was difficult sometimes to think about it for too long.

So he doesn't.]

The campus is bigger than I imagined it to be when he told me about it. How many are in the special class? [How many people is he potentially going to run into if he wanders on his own?]

[ he makes a slight Face at the mention of them not getting along, except he can't comment on it because it's... well, true. even now they still argue, even if it's not as bad as it was before.

There's eighteen of us in total, nine in each dorm. So just a pretty small part of the student body.

there's a pause as he is going over what he said ]

[...Tamaki just sort of accepts this, nodding and closing his eyes for a moment.] Numbers can be quite difficult to keep track of, I understand. Even so, that's even more competitive than our game.

[...] The two of you are happy here, yes? [He means at the school and everything, in the new life, but he's also maybe fishing because he's a dumbass.]

[It happens when you're a dumb twink who's still trying to take care of everyone he even remotely has positive feelings for. A hand curls under his chin, thoughtful expression still apparent even as his eyes drift over the campus and his legs are leading him...somewhere he doesn't even consciously know. It's likely someone's dorm, but that doesn't stop him.]

That's the most important news. [There's a short nod.] Though we were able to see everything you could do in the temple, here, across the multiverse, it's a bit harder to keep track. And the balance and what you take forward after your time with us not only impacts your world but ours as well.

When people share their experiences it leaves room to create new cultures and new experiences. Everything we have ever learned or seen from all of you has powered us to make us a bit stronger and clarify our visions for the world going forward.

If you mean people such as Luna-san and Catra-san? Absolutely not! [NO!!] Though Chloe and Catra learned quite a bit from one another, so in a way perhaps some lessons are better than others.

Mm...while I wasn't privy to everything that the others did with the contestants that joined us, I can imagine it enough. They say that great minds think alike, but that does nothing to put me at ease.

[But he's grinning lightly so like. It's maybe fine.] There were others that had an influence on her as well and made Ambition a little more humbled. I don't believe it was the effort of any one person for any of us.

I know the nosy rabbit was friends with her.
