but hmm. this again gets into tricky morality territory since the more they find out the worse it will get about not helping. but they did notify someone who is just as capable of providing assistance... ignoring the fact that they have no idea how quickly ch'en can send someone over. ]

[ if elysium* decides to ever take a walk back into the past, then he will get cuter thorns… the thorns who still gets 90% of the ship art. clearly that matters more than some cheat codes.

unsurprisingly, what waits for them is a return transmission from ch'en. there is a tense edge to her voice as she talks, something along the lines of him being on supposed leave so what is doing in lungmen—before he skips it entirely to begin passively listening in for other line.

he won't be surprised if they get more messages from her later, but this was at least useful info to have. it makes sense as to why others that they know haven't seem to be searching for them; they simply were told a lie regarding their disappearance.

the spot they settle at is a small forested area. due to the circumstances, it's best to not go hunting or anything that would have them wandering off, so he will just grab some protein bars and hand one to elysium. docybara can munch on some grass even though he now knows tastier food... ]

I can take first watch when it's time to sleep.

[ docybara is a simple soul and is just happy to be with elysium and thorns… this is the most he's seen of either of them since they started staying in the town? woah. his ears seem to flick happily as he eats baldspots in this grass.

it doesn't feel good to take watches alone anymore, but that is the nature of the beast. he sighs. ]

And with how much we've saved, we should be solid for wherever we end up next. When you set-up camp later, I'll go ahead and do traps.

[ unfortunately at this point losing docybara would be like losing an arm... that's their son. he would still put elysium first but it'll be very upsetting to have to choose between the two. ]

this is so much better than thinking whatever he was thinking earlier. ]

[ it's still early enough they have some light to get everything prepped... before night forever. ]

docybara wanders over to head butt their legs. ]

[ he wants to help… read: be given busy work…

elysium once again thinks their child is too spoiled but with thorns here he does not think there is helping it. he already considers it a win that they'd gotten him off of his drug problem.

he gets up… and raps his knuckles against docybara's cheek. ]

… C'mon. You can help me move things over to the other side of camp.

[ docybara whines a little, but that's mostly because he wants to help thorns. all elysium has to do is tug and he will tearfully part from mother… ]

[ thorns watches them go...

it is such a warm, domestic feeling seeing all of this. when elysium said they needed to leave right away he was worried that this would be disrupted immediately.

... admittedly, it probably would have, if they decided to get involved. ]

[ it is always justified to pick fambly over morals…

elysium just snorts as he throws a hand over his shoulder to wave. ]

[ as they work from afar, (afar being like several metres away at most) he'll make sure to stop to wave over to thorns setting up camp every so often. he makes sure docybara waves, too. they are having fun… all together. ]

[ that's also your child... thorns waves back.

he will also use this time to check things out with the corazonix. he manages to locate one of the groups from earlier... they seem to be moving away from the town, but thorns can't tell if they're actually leaving the area or if they just found a more secure location to wait at. what concerns him is that the group that was very close to the town aren't at their previous position. does that mean they infiltrated?

he sighs and just gets their tent up. ]

[ him and docybara are in constant competition for thorns' attention… they have a complicated relationship. (literally only elysium thinks this.)

but after they both finish securing their perimeter, they toddle over to thorns with an eerily similar likeness. they are waiting for their praise… ]
