their saniwa has recently got into reading romantic novels. tsuru never really thought much of it other than it being funny to suddenly surprise them when they're engulfed in their reading, but he never cared too much to learn about the actual contents of the books.
that is, until one day when nikkari and tsurumaru are the only ones at the citadel with their master. they end up sharing about what they've been reading, and it turns out they're particularly fond of some trope where two people pretend to be in a relationship for whatever reason. they're super into it? it's pretty cute, actually.
that's why, when their master gets called away to greet some of the returning sword warriors, that tsuru turns to nikkari. ]

as tsuru eats, nikkari puts his elbow on the table and rests his face against his hand. there's something like a twinkle in his eye that makes it seem like he's expecting something. ]
