[ Well, welcome to Fódlan, Saber. It is your typical medieval Europe setting, but there's not much to give that away currently. They're currently in a military camp set in a grassy plain. There are tents, merchant stalls, stables and training grounds in the camp, and plenty of noise as soldiers run through drills, and the caravan goes around ensuring that the campaign is looked after with food and supplies. Nothing that should be too unfamiliar to Saber, though.
The group of them probably spawned slightly away from the camp, hand waving that they sent Yves and Adolphe on their way even though Claude would probably have them stick around just so they can get their bearings. But there's just a lot happening, and honestly, once they wander into the camp proper, Claude probably asked Saber to lay low in his tent while he went to figure out what was happening with Judith's revival. I'm going to say she survived the injuries that were meant to kill her, but that she's still recovering.
So once that is done, he'll head back to his tent to check in on Saber... Did Saber wait there like a good boy (gender neutral)? ]
but that's fine. saber will actually behave, but it's the type of behaving where they will keep peeking outside of the tent to glance around what's happening and diving back fully inside when they hear footsteps. it's fine... if anyone spots them, they can go invisible and will just make whoever it is believe they are hallucinating from stress.
but when claude returns, he will find saber sitting down, eating a riceball they brought with them for the trip. they set it down on their lap. ]
[ Saber... This is such cute behaviour. He probably doesn't notice Saber cutely peeking around, looking a little amused when he catches sight of them peacefully eating a rice ball. They're going to have to get used to white people food... ]
Seems like it.
[ Sitting down on the chair his tent has been afforded, running a hand through his hair. ]
Judith is alive, and no one seems to be aware that she died. It's just a matter of me getting back head back where it was two months ago. [ Dusts off cobwebs and gets back into war mode. ] What about you? How do you want me to introduce you to everyone?
at the question though... huh. ][ well, their actual name may be uncommon. how many asians are here. but they don't know about femblem racial diversity or potential lack of it, so they don't voice that concern. ]
Yamato Takeru should be fine. You'd just have to lose the privilege of having special permission to use it.
Saber should be fine. [ HE REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO LOSE HIS PRIVILEGE ] It'll be a cool nickname for you. There are plenty of mercenaries without full names at the camp.
I'm wondering if I should make up a lie about where you're from, or just leave it a mystery... If anyone starts asking you questions, and we start making up lies about a homeland, that could lead to trouble.
It may be simple to just say I was orphaned, so I do not know anything about where I am from originally. I have simply lived in the countryside for most of my life afterwards.
[ you don't have to make up lies about a homeland if you do not know where that homeland is!! ]
Ah, that's a good idea. [ Nods. If kind of sad... but not that unusual around here. ] Perhaps I saw you hunting a boar while flying one day and I was taken aback by your skill... Self-taught in the sword and in magic.
[ HE WASN'T FLUSTERED... Or was he. I can't even remember. It is still strange to hear his birth name, even more so now that he's back in Fódlan, but not unpleasant. ]
That's right. Judith's the only one that knows I'm from Almyra. [ ... ] Well, and Shez. I'll introduce you to everyone soon.
[ Though... He looks thoughtful, leaning back in his chair. ]
Unless maybe you want the opportunity to travel a little first? You could follow Yves and Adolphe, and help them find a home. [ Scratching his cheek. ] You know, since escaping eight weeks of murder and dying to go straight into a war is kind of a terrible deal.
they are kind of amused... sorry the idea of someone telling them they don't have to fight is funny to them. ]
Do not worry. No one is my Master here, so if I really didn't want to do something, I just wouldn't.
[ they do NOT like being bossed around. their secret is that when they were asked who they would choose as a master, they still gave names, but they would never actually ask them to because they aren't crazy and they like their independence. the downside of having weakened power is a pain in the ass but they don't think they're in a situation where that will really matter; it's not like they're fighting other servants here. ]
[ LOOK it's never too late to turn over a new leaf. Sometimes you want your life to be different from the way it always has been.
He blinks slowly. ]
Right. Your Master. [ ... ] I remember that coming up a couple times, but I don't think I ever actually got what it means.
[ He probably overheard someone asking Saber during party games, but it never came up directly so he actually doesn't know the Master and Servant dynamic. ]
[ it has been. idk. two weeks?? an amount of time where it makes sense to get the general rundown on thing, but still generally new enough to this place and way of life. saber has met people and whether or not they think it's weird they keep acting like they have known claude longer than the cover story implied is up in the air, but it's fine.
anyway!!!
one night they are just going to........... poke their head into his tent.......... ]
[ claude is the biggest brat in the entire world, my god.
saber pouts before switching their position to be more of a kneel than a crouch, shuffling a little closer until they can force claude's head onto their lap. there were probably sweeter ways to do this but it's okay. lap pillow. ]
[ HE IS A BRAT... But oh, he was hoping for lap pillow and he didn't even have to wheedle his way into receiving one. Well, not more than what he's done already.
His demeanour immediately softens from being huffy and sulky to plainly tired, glancing up at Saber with a little frown. ]
I'm not grading you. You don't have to prove yourself to me like that. [ Saber doesn't need to physically show up each and every time for Claude to know they're there for him. ] And it's nothing dire; I'm just tired, I guess.

Ah, Khalid, you are so kind... I am blushing.

You wouldn't, huh? [ He chews on his lip briefly, brows furrowing. ] It's not causing too much stress, is it?
