[ Reina knows no one is home, but still she calls out (both stern and polite in equal measure): ]
Pardon the intrusion.
[ It's been some time since she's visited: practice, school, practice for college entrance auditions, the quiet moments stolen in between all of that and more practice. It's left little time for long visits and hours of pleasant nothing. But they won't have time unless they make it for themselves, so Reina is here (with her instrument in tow, mind you). ]
It's clean.
[ Reina stands in the doorway to Kumiko's room, blinking expectantly like she expects the illusion to shatter. ]
I thought with how busy you've been–
[ Reina enters the room and runs her finger across Kumiko's desk. There's just the barest residual dust but nothing else. ]
– your room would be a total mess. But it's not.
[ She sets her instrument case down on the floor and claps her hands softly. ]
[ reina is completely valid in the observation, but kumiko's cheeks still puff out in a slight pout.
the truth is that kumiko hasn't been in her room long enough to really make a mess of it. she goes home, does homework, sleep, then wakes up to spend most of her day elsewhere-- but the signs of someone who'd spend a lot of time in here, and the things they'd accumulate during that time, are gone.
so, reina's line of thinking isn't wrong, it just went to the opposite direction. ]
Somehow that doesn't really feel like a compliment...
[ it's muttered, and obviously meant to be her inner monologue with how she covers her mouth quickly after. kumiko opts for a quick topic change to save herself, ]
