[ it's not the first time Varian has visited Steph since their adventures in murder castle, but he wonders if he'll ever get used to the sheer size of Gotham City.
Big, looming, dirty, dark-- it's nothing like Varian ever experienced in Corona or outside of it, and right now, that's a blessing. He's probably as far from anything resembling a forest as he could be, and not a single building here could be said to resemble a small cottage. It's. Good.
He knows where Steph lives, and intellectually he knows he should be heading there-- either to find her or wait for her, depending on what she might be doing-- but he's still a bit out of breath from how fast he moved out of there. It's not hyperventilating, of course not. It was just... very sudden running. Yes.
Varian is just going to casually lean against this building in Gotham in a dark alley and catch his breath before going to see his favorite person, and everything is Fine! Super fine!
Fiddling with the red scrunchie Veronica gave him is for fun and not a nervous habit also because everything is Fine ]

[ it's been a busy night. it's mostly just been a variety of different types of robberies-- home break-ins, convenience stores, just people mugging others in the street. so, nothing too dangerous, at least to steph's standards.
she's actually in the middle of following one mugger after he ditched his group when she showed up. steph is seated on the roof of a building, watching him run down the sidewalk before taking a sharp turn into an alleyway. she sighs, because of course he'd choose an alley. they always choose alleys, that is the most stereotypical place in gotham to run to. without any ceremony, she leaps down from the roof... to land right on top of him!
