[Wow is right. Wow, rude. :\] We won't crash if you don't lean far. [Can't believe Ash is actually going to get taken out by a bike in Japan.

Once Ash is settled, he smoothly starts them off about the time the front door opens. A girl's high voice yells, "NIISAN!" but Eiji deadass just laughs and waves.

Unlike the concrete city of New York, Japan has the wildest aesthetic of urban nature. The Okumuras are just outside of a larger town; houses, waterways, stone. And then the occasional wide expanse of rice field with calf-high green grass. It's warm, but the breeze from the biking is nice on Ash--and the light yukata helps, too.]

Sorry, [Eiji yells over his shoulder,] we live in the country.

[It isn't even that bad.]

[Looking around, this is probably why Eiji is so soft. A horizon of gentle mountains on two sides, and trees for days, but periodic plains of rice fields mixed in with a big population that dwindles outward.

There isn't any fight for the city here. The air smells a lot like Cape Cod, in a way. Briny, smells like the sea which is only a twenty minute drive at most.]

There is a city around Izumo Taisha, the shrine. But the other is... sea west, mountains north and south, and a lot of forests. If you miss the city later, we can go to Tokyo. [He glances back.] I can show you "shinkansen." [Hmmm. Oh.] The bullet train.

[A small smile comes to Eiji's face. There isn't any point in saying, bewildered, "You've never been to Disneyland?!" because of course Ash probably hasn't.]

Okay. We'll go. [It isn't about Ash never going before, but about giving Ash the opportunity to go now.] What do you want to do there?

We can get ears.

[Mickey and Minnie because they're practically married.]

[For some reason, this question makes Eiji laugh. The bike only teeters a bit without any fear of falling over.]

I think so. I went when I was young. Tokyo is... mm, six hours by shinkansen. So going is like a vacation.

[Especially when a dad is strangely missing from home. That's practically a breadwinner in Japan.]

I'd like to go with you. It would be fun.

[Anything would be fun with Ash.]

There is time. [He will not rush Ash. He's already trying hard not to rush Ash to run out and do All The Things. He knows it's hard for Ash to relax.] Later, we'll go.

[And then he MAKES A FACE.]

...yes. No girls allowed.

[WOW. Eiji hunches his shoulders, but has more focus in trying not to crash them on the bike.]

Well. She can be mad. [She is just going to shove herself right between the two of them and hang off Ash's arm. :unamused:] She has school.

[They could absolutely go over a break.]

...I guess she could come.

[Once soft, always soft with Eiji. His sister is still his sister, even if he complains about her sisterly annoyances.]

Being there will make you forget everything else.

[~*magic*~]

Are you okay still? We are almost there.

It's okay if you can't, you know.

[Eiji doesn't make it awkward by looking back at Ash. Instead, he keeps looking ahead and biking, but Ash can still see the extremely soft look on his face since the wind is blowing his hair back.]

Here, you can say it's too much. I don't mind. I'll help you.

[i already forgot why i had logged into this in another window i think it was codes but now i'm tagging you back so you get this notif in your email randomly and are like WHAT?

Remember back when we were doing the gayest bike ride in the world. Yeah, we're here again.]

I will just put you in the basket.

[The one on the front.]

[Don't knock his head, they'll crash down the slope of the sidewalk and right into the rice field ditch!!!!

It's fine, Eiji has good balance. But he can't even swat at the hand, so he just makes a puffed face.]

Ash.... [That's all he can think to say since he can't claim to be bigger. Well, maybe bigger around, Ash is very slim.] Oh--bus station is ahead!

The L...?

[STOP.

No patting either. He really hates he can't smack Ash on the arm. Dammit.

Rather than hastily peddle to the stop, he continues to take it easy until they get there. Probably the wildest thing for Ash when they do arrive is the long row of bikes just...... sitting there waiting for their owners.

And the fact Eiji does the same with this bike once Ash hops off.

Why doesn't anyone steal these bikes, help.]

[Ash is so funny aaaaaaa. Eiji just pauses to look at the bike, and then

at the rest of the bikes, too. And then at Ash. Right. No one on God's green earth would ever leave anything just out in New York because (gestures at America).]

No...? It is okay to leave it. [He points to the other bikes.] These are here, too. See? [Some bikes do get stolen sometimes, but that's because those people are hooligans.] Probably at school, or at work.

No magic.

[The crime is laughable. He's so sorry to Ash. But now there doesn't have to be any claws. Maybe Ash can learn to relax? He hopes... Ash can relax, but also that Ash doesn't feel bad if the defined edge of survival gets softened from being here.

That's fine. He's, like, never sending Ash back to New York anyway............]

I will show you bike when we come back. And I will laugh because it is there.

[He

takes Ash by the hand to lead him to the little hooded bench and the sign to wait for the bus.]
